NinjaTrader trading journal
Bring NinjaTrader executions into your journal with a CSV import or an API key.
Toreda imports your NinjaTrader futures trades two ways. You can upload an execution CSV into a NinjaTrader account, or generate an API key and send fills from your own NinjaTrader 8 script or add-on.
Unlike Tradovate or the ProjectX firms, NinjaTrader is a desktop platform, so there is no broker login to authorize. New to the platform? Read the NinjaTrader platform page.
Option 1: CSV import
Create a NinjaTrader account in Toreda (it is listed as "Manual account + CSV import"), then import your export on the Trades page. Toreda reads each execution, pairs entries with exits using NinjaTrader's position column, and builds one trade per round trip.
- Reads instrument, action, quantity, price, time and commission from each execution.
- Pairs fills into closed trades with entry, exit, side and size.
- Carries commissions into each trade's fees.
- Skips trades you have already imported, and shows a preview before anything is saved.
Option 2: API key sync
In Settings, under API & Integrations, you can create an API key with a label such as "NT8 - Home PC". You can use that key to send fills to Toreda from your own NinjaTrader 8 script or add-on; see the API setup guide. Toreda does not ship an add-on download. The key is shown only once, so store it securely.
The matching account is created the first time Toreda sees a new account name (for example Sim101). Fills are de-duplicated by execution ID, so re-sending the same fills is safe.
Which should I use?
| CSV import | API key sync | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Create a NinjaTrader account, upload a file | Create a key, send fills from your own script or add-on |
| Updates | Whenever you upload | Whenever your script sends fills |
| Best for | Back-filling history, one-off imports | Traders who already script NinjaTrader 8 |
Trading a prop account on Tradovate or ProjectX with NinjaTrader as your front end? Connect the broker directly instead. Those integrations need no file or script.

- Create a NinjaTrader account in Settings, Accounts, Add. Then open Trades, click Import, choose NinjaTrader as the Export Source, select the account and upload your CSV export.
- Can I send NinjaTrader fills with an API key?
