ProjectX trading journal for prop firms

One API key setup covers TopstepX and TheFuturesDesk.

Toreda connects to prop firms that run on the ProjectX platform: TopstepX and TheFuturesDesk. You enter your username and an API key, pick your accounts, and your futures trades import into your journal.

Both firms use the same flow, so the setup below covers either one. For the TopstepX specifics, see the TopstepX page.

The shared API-key setup

Each firm issues API keys from its own platform settings. Toreda links to the right help article from the connect form ("How to get your API key"), so you do not have to hunt for it. Generate the key there, then bring the key and your username to Toreda.

Toreda uses the key to read your accounts and trade history. The Connect button stays disabled until both the Username and API Key fields are filled in.

What gets imported

  • Completed round-trip futures trades with entry and exit price, side and size.
  • Fees, taken from the platform data for each trade.
  • The contract with its tick size and tick value, where Toreda recognises it.
  • Account balance, refreshed on each sync.

How syncing works

ProjectX accounts sync when you ask. Press Sync on the account, or use the sync icon in the top bar to sync all connected broker accounts at once. Each sync looks back 90 days and skips trades Toreda already has, so repeating it is safe.

Evaluations and funded accounts

After import, tag each account with its stage and prop firm. Toreda then tracks outcomes and payouts per account, so you can see evaluation and funded results separately.

Connect ProjectX to Toreda

Markets: FuturesConnection: API key. Enter your platform username and API key; no OAuth and no CSV export.

  1. In your prop firm platform (TopstepX or TheFuturesDesk), open the API settings and generate an API key. Toreda links to each firm's help article from the connect form.
  2. In Toreda, open Settings, go to Accounts, and click Add.
  3. Under Futures, choose TopstepX or TheFuturesDesk (both are described as "Connect with API key").
  4. Enter your Username and API Key, then click Connect to TopstepX (or Connect to TheFuturesDesk).
  5. On the Select Accounts screen, choose the accounts to bring in and click Import.
  6. Optionally add the account stage, prop firm and cost, then click Save and continue (or Skip).
  7. Press Sync on an account, or the sync icon in the top bar, to pull your trades.

Frequently asked questions

Does Toreda also support stocks and options?
ProjectX firms trade futures. Toreda also journals stocks and options through Webull and Robinhood, or by manual entry. The integrations hub lists every connection.
Which prop firms does the ProjectX integration cover?
TopstepX and TheFuturesDesk, the prop firms on the ProjectX platform. Each has its own tile in the Add Account list.
How do I get my ProjectX API key?
Generate it in your firm's platform API settings. The Toreda connect form has a "How to get your API key" link that opens the right help article for TopstepX or TheFuturesDesk.
What do I enter in Toreda to connect?
Your platform username and the API key, in the Username and API Key fields. Then click the Connect button for your firm.
How does ProjectX sync work?
It syncs when you press Sync on an account or the sync icon in the top bar. Each run looks back 90 days and skips trades already imported.
Can I connect more than one firm?
Yes. Connect TopstepX and TheFuturesDesk separately, each with its own username and API key.
