Enneagram Type 1
Enneagram Type 1 Trader: The Perfectionist
Strengths to lean on and blind spots to review for the Perfectionist, whether you trade stocks, futures or options.
A Type 1 trader, the Perfectionist, tends to bring discipline, high standards and a habit of journaling to the market. The same drive for the "right way" can turn into rigidity and harsh self-criticism. Knowing both sides helps you keep the standards and drop the self-punishment.
A Type 1 is motivated by integrity, doing things the right way, and being accurate and organized, and tends to fear being wrong, imperfect or unorganized. These are tendencies, not rules. Your own trades are what show whether they apply to you. Toreda's results card calls this type the Reformer; the Type Guide calls it the Perfectionist.
How a Type 1 tends to trade under pressure
Under pressure, a Type 1 tends to hold tighter to the rules, whether the trade is a stock swing, a futures scalp or an options spread.
That helps when the rules are sound. It hurts when a loss triggers a critical inner voice, or when a small deviation from the plan feels like a failure that needs correcting immediately.
Strengths to lean on
- Discipline: you tend to define a plan and respect it.
- Integrity: you are likely to record trades honestly, including the ones you are not proud of.
- Journaling: careful records come naturally, so the habit is easier to keep.
- Accuracy: you notice details in execution that others skip.
Blind spots to review
- Rigidity: skipping a valid setup because it is not perfect, or refusing to adapt when conditions change.
- Self-criticism: treating one loss as proof you did something wrong, even when you followed your plan.
- Over-correcting: changing a working plan after a single bad outcome.
- Judging other traders and sources too harshly, which can narrow what you learn from.
Journaling and review habits that fit
- Score every trade (open scoring from the Trades page or the Journal dashboard) on Setup Quality, Execution Quality, Risk Management, Emotional Control and Process Compliance, and give a well-executed loss the score it earned.
- Separate process from outcome in your notes: write what you did right on a losing trade.
- Use a Playbook to write down the entry criteria for a valid setup, so "good enough" is defined in advance.
- Review your scoring trend weekly rather than judging single trades.
How Toreda's assessment and AI coach use your profile
Open Enneagram in Toreda and rate 54 short statements from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. It takes about 8 minutes. Toreda scores them into a primary and a secondary type. If you already know your types, you can enter them manually.
Your Trader Profile includes an AI Trading Report with your strengths, blind spots, core pattern, a trading plan and a mindset shift, and you can export it as a PDF. The Types Guide lets you browse all nine types side by side.
Once your type is set, the AI coach uses it. Dashboard AI Insights and the Trade Analyzer name your type and connect patterns in your data to its edge or blind spot. For a Type 1, the traits Toreda lists are Principled · Purposeful · Self-Controlled. Without a profile, the AI does not reference any personality type.
A starting point, not a verdict
