Enneagram Type 2
Enneagram Type 2 Trader: The Helper
Strengths to lean on and blind spots to review for the Helper, whether you trade stocks, futures or options.
A Type 2 trader, the Helper, tends to be empathetic and aware of the people around them. The common blind spot is putting your own plan last, whether that means following other people's trade ideas or taking resentment into the next session. Reviewing your own data helps you act on your plan, not someone else's.
A Type 2 is motivated by feeling appreciated, wanted and helpful, and tends to fear being unworthy of love or help, or being seen as needy. These are tendencies, not rules. Your own trades are what show whether they apply to you.
How a Type 2 tends to trade under pressure
Under pressure, a Type 2 tends to look outward: for reassurance, for a group's opinion, or for someone to share a trade idea with.
That can be a strength in a trading community. It becomes a blind spot when a chat room's conviction replaces your own analysis, or when a loss feels like letting someone down.
Strengths to lean on
- Empathy: you tend to read other people and the room well.
- Awareness: you notice shifts in how you and others are feeling.
- Support: you are likely to be a generous, useful member of a trading group.
- Relationships: mentors and peers can be a real asset when you use them well.
Blind spots to review
- Not helping yourself: your own plan, rest and risk limits can drop down the list.
- Following other people's ideas: entering a trade because someone else is in it.
- Resentment: feeling unrewarded for sharing ideas or help, and carrying it into the next trade.
- Seeking approval: wanting your trades to be admired instead of wanting them to fit your rules.
Journaling and review habits that fit
- Tag trades that came from someone else's idea, then filter by that tag to compare them with your own setups.
- Write a short pre-trade note in your own words before you enter: why this trade, in your plan.
- Use the Emotional Control score honestly, and mark "unplanned trade" when a trade was not in your plan.
- Schedule time for your own review. The Daily Recap's top actions for tomorrow are a good place to start.
