CBDR Range + SD
Boxes the high and low of a fixed evening window, then projects multiples of that range above and below as standard-deviation levels.

What it does
Tracks the Central Bank Dealing Range: the high and low of price between the window start and end — 16:00 to 20:00 in the session timezone by default — drawn as a box that grows while the window is open.
When the window closes it projects standard-deviation levels: SD *k* is the range multiplied by *k*, placed above the high and below the low. With SD Extend Right on, those levels and the CBDR high/low themselves run forward until the next window forms. One day's drawings are kept at a time; the next window entry clears them.
How to read it
The range is a volatility measurement taken while the market is quiet. A narrow box implies a compressed session and the SD levels sit close together; a wide box pushes them out. Because every level is a multiple of that same range, the projections scale themselves to the day rather than to a fixed point value.
Use a fast chart
The high and low are built from your chart's own bars, so a slow chart can overstate the range — and every SD level is a multiple of it, so the error compounds outward. Run it on a 1–5 minute chart.
Inputs
| Input | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Session Timezone | America/New_York | Timezone the window times are read in. |
| Start / End Hour & Minute | 16:00 / 20:00 | The CBDR window. Must not span midnight. |
| Border Color / Fill Color | Gray / Gray 85% | Box styling. |
| Show Label / Label Text | On / CBDR | Text centered in the box. |
| Show SD Projections | On | Draw the SD levels once the window closes. |
| SD Count | 2 | Levels projected each side (1–4). |
| SD Direction | Both | Both, UpsideOnly or DownsideOnly. |
| SD Extend Right | On | Levels and CBDR high/low run forward until the next window. Off spans the window only. |
| SD Color / Line Style / Width | Gray / Solid / 1 | SD line styling. |
| Show SD Labels | Off | Right-edge chips: CBDR High, CBDR Low, CBDR SD ±N. |
| SD Label Offset (minutes) | 30 | How far past the last bar the chips trail. |
| SD Label Text Color | #333333 | Chip text color. |
| H/L Lines Match SD Style | On | CBDR high/low lines copy the SD color, style and width. Off uses the three H/L inputs. |
| H/L Line Color / Style / Width | Gray / Solid / 1 | Used when Match is off. |
| Auto Label Background / Color | On / Black | Chip background matches its line, or one fixed color. |
| Draw Visuals | On | Master drawing switch. |
Adding it to a chart
- Right-click the chart → Indicators… → find ToredaCBDR, click Add, set the inputs, click OK.
- Color inputs shown as #RRGGBB are typed as hex text, e.g. `#6FA8DC`. An invalid value falls back to a default and prints a note in the NinjaScript Output window rather than failing the indicator.
- Use a fast chart (1–5 minute): the high and low are built from the chart's own bars, so a slow chart can overstate the range.
- Nothing is drawn until the first window opens in the loaded history.
Notes and limitations
- Chips trail the last bar; they do not re-pin to the visible right edge when the chart is scrolled back.
- The CBDR high and low are not tagged on the price scale.
- Windows that cross midnight are not supported.
For strategy builders
NinjaTrader 8 only
Every plot is registered transparent, so it changes nothing on a chart until you color it in the indicator dialog. Levels are NaN when there is no value — never 0, which would compare as a real price — and flags are 1/0.
| Plot | Meaning |
|---|---|
| RangeHigh / RangeLow / RangeEq | The CBDR window's high, low and midpoint. NaN before the first completed window. |
| RangeSize | High − low, published only once the window is complete — a volatility gate. |
| WindowActive | 1 while the bar is inside the CBDR window. |
| WindowComplete | 1 from window close until the next window opens. |
| SdUp1–SdUp4 | High + k × range. All four publish regardless of SD Count, which only controls how many lines are drawn. |
| SdDn1–SdDn4 | Low − k × range, same rule. |
